Bioinformatics and transcript”omics”(computer-based)
“omics” technologies contributed to the generation of large data highlighting the need for computational biology approaches development in order to translate this knowledge into clinic. During this practical you will learn how to use a series of online bioinformatics resources such as a unique gene identifier on NCBI Gene database to locate a specific gene of interest. Following this, you will use other online databases such as MotifMap to find out which transcription factors have binding sites for your protein. You will also use STRING database to extract information about p53 tumor suppressor gene interactants. Finally, you will also demonstrate how to build the small scale logical model to represent biological processes.
